A reduction in Chinese tariffs for infant formula has made investments in the Australian dairy industry more attractive as China seeks safe milk products from abroad.

  • The tariff on infant formula to be cut to 5% (from 20%) on May 1
  • This puts putting Australian producers on a comparable footing to New Zealand competitors (who have had the benefit of a NZ/China free trade agreement since 2008)
