Senate will be in focus this week

If the Senate fails to pass US tax reform, the blame will likely fall on Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and tax cut plan architect Gary Cohn. The pair were tasked with selling the plan to the public but have stumbled, especially with this particularly out-of-touch photo shoot.

Politico writes that six Senate Republicans are still withholding their support for the package and with only a two-seat majority, it could be trouble.

The expectation is that it will pass -- eventually -- but Mnuchin and Cohn have made it difficult to get a few votes. For one, it's unpopular.

"The most excited group out there are big CEOs, about our tax plan," Cohn, the former president of Goldman Sachs, said in an interview with CNBC earlier this month.

A recent Quinnipiac University poll found that 52% of voters oppose the tax plan, and only 25% support it.
