Preliminary Q3 2015 US labour costs and productivity data report 5 November 2015

  • Prior -1.4%. Revised to -1.8%
  • Productivity 1.6% vs -0.2% exp. Prior 3.3%. Revised to 3.5%

Durables saw the only drop in labour costs in the quarter, falling 1.4%. It also saw the biggest gain in productivity, rising 7.3%

Hourly compensation was stronger across the board

The report looks soft on the headline miss from unit costs but the productivity gains make up for that . The labour dept said that a decline in self employed workers led to the first overall drop in working hours in 6 years
