Earlier Speaker of the House Paul Ryan - through a spokewoman said:
- The first step in the process of helping storm victims is a formal request for resources from the Trump administration.
- US lawmakers will help those affected by tropical storm Harvey
Pres. Trump seems to have replied with:
- It will be very expensive proposition to pay for hurricane recovery efforts
- He will be talking to congress about it
He added:
- He may return to storm zone on Saturday, possibly making a stop in Louisiana.
- Things are being handled very well
- People of Texas has really persevered
Earlier Sen. Cruz (R-Texas) said that the he has been in touch with the President constantly and that the President wanted to stay away from Houston, and not distract the recovery and relief efforts. Cruz agreed with that stance.
Trump is expected to visit Texas on Tuesday but the WH has said he will not visit Houston.
Pres. Trump will hold a press conference with the Finland President at around 4:20 PM ET/2020 GMT.
