Russia has joined China, India and the EU in demanding compensation from the United States regarding its decision to impose worldwide tariffs on steel and aluminium.

The US maintains that the tariffs are legitimate and based on national security , so fall outside of the World Trade Organisations rules. Unsurprisingly , Russia, China and India and the EU have all rejected that claim. They are all seeking compensation from the United States.

In response, the United States has agreed to 'open negotiations' with China, India and the EU. Once again, bluster is being used as an attention grabber for negotiation....
