Latest data released by Destatis - 28 June 2018

  • CPI +2.1% vs +2.2% y/y prior

Okay, Bloomberg is reporting the monthly estimate to be +0.1% while Reuters has it at +0.2%. Will come back to that later, but the yearly estimate are both similar at +2.1%.

Looking at the details of the report, it's actually not so bright either. The core reading fell from +1.6% in May to +1.4% this time around in June. So a minor dip in the headline estimate and a 0.2% dip in the core estimate surely isn't going to portray a brighter inflation outlook for the month of June.

Let's see how the other state reports will perform when they filter through later.
