Suspension will go into effect tomorrow
- Restriction will not apply to residents and long-term pass holders
- Travel restriction also applies to transiting passengers
- Will suspend issuance of new visas to Chinese passport holders
Singapore is a massive travel hub and for them to be announcing such measures will not only impact those travelling to China but also those with travel plans around the world.
In essence, I think there is some good news and some bad news related to the move here.
On the one hand, it is yet another country stepping up tough measures to prevent the virus from spreading - bad for China, bad for markets. On the other, it at least gives the perception of a safer travel pattern for those who are looking to travel around the region.
