BRUSSELS (MNI) – Slovakia hopes to make the final decision on
Wednesday about whether or not it will sign a deal to contribute to the
E440 billion European financial stability fund, the country’s finance
minister Ivan Miklos said.

The 16 countries that make up the Eurozone agreed earlier this year
to create a E440 billion stability fund to act as a backstop for member
states that run into refinancing difficulty.

Slovakia is the only country not to have signed the deal but its
new cabinet will meet for the first time tomorrow and “hopefully” take a
final decision, Miklos told reporters as he arrived for a meeting of
finance ministers here Tuesday.
