Spain’s Rajoy faces renewed calls to resign over secret payments scandal

The Spanish PM has been embroiled in this for a while now but faces news calls for his resignation after newspaper El Mundo published texts messages allegedly linking him to Luis Barcenas, the former treasurer of the governing Popular Party.

Barcenas is in custody facing trial on charges of corruption and fraud. He denies the allegations as does Mr Rajoy who has been accused of taking illicit payments.
