PARIS (MNI) – The following is the text of the Bank of France’s
survey on retail trade for September:

Retail activity decreased slightly in September

Adjusted for seasonal and working day variations, retail sales
contracted by 0.5% compared with August.

Food sales eased by 1.2% and sales of industrial goods were down
0.9%. Textiles-clothing and footwear posted significant reductions.
Conversely, sales of new automobiles, automobile equipment,
pharmaceuticals and perfumes and hygiene products increased.

Sales at small retail stores were down 0.6% in September while the
large general retailers segment posted a minus 1.6% evolution.
Supermarket sales diminished by 1.4%, hypermarket sales by 1.7% and
distance sales by 0.8%.
