London traders are leaving. US traders are entering.
As the week comes to a close and the traders get ready to exit early for the Christmas weekend (London traders are already leaving for the day), the CAD remains the strongest currency today (it was yesterday too) and the EUR is the weakest (on the back of the separatists slim majority win). Nevertheless, the impact is still rather tame.
Ranges show the "tame" in the market (See charts below). The EURUSD has the best showing after the spike lower in the Asian session. Some of the other pairs like the USDJPY and the USDCHF barely moved today (range of 18 and 19 pips). The AUDUSD and NZDUSD were not much better.
There is some unfinished business on the US economic calendar today with Canada GDP, US durable goods, PCE data, and Personal spending and income due out at 8:30 AM ET/1330 GMT. At 10 AM , ET/1500 GMT, US new home sales and the revised UofM consumer sentiment will be release.
