Services are in focus today as the market begins to get jittery about the US economy once again.

The economic calendar is fairly busy today starting with comments from Kashkari imminently. Expect the usual dovish message from him and the usual market reaction (nothing).

The bigger news starts at 1445 GMT with the final Markit services PMI. No change from the initial 56.2 reading is expected but the revision in the manufacturing Markit number was surprisingly large (and to the downside) so there might be some special factors at play in February.

The main data comes at 1500 GMT with the ISM non-manufacturing report. It's forecast to tick up to 57.4 from 56.7 and it's likely to be a market mover. The December new home sales reports is released at the same time.

The pound is the laggard today and it will remain in focus at 1535 with Carney to testify in the House of Lords.

Later news includes the Fed's Barkin at 1630 GMT and the US monthly budget statement at 1900 GMT. For more, see the economic calendar.
