EUR is the strongest. AUD is the weakest
North American traders are entering the day with the EUR the strongest and the AUD the weakest.
There is a big asterisk though as markets are movements/volatility is limited across the board. The charts below show the change and range in relation to the close from yesterday. Of the major pairs, the EURUSD has the largest change at 28 pips. The NZDUSD, AUDUSD, USDCAD, USDCHF, USDJPY and GBPUSD are all within 7 pips of the closing levels. The lower chart shows the ranges vs. the 22 day average (1 month of trading). All the pairs are well below the averages. The EURUSD and GBPUSD are leading with 61 pips. That ain't a lot of range.
Today FOMC Dudley is scheduled to speak at 8 AM along with FOMC member Lockhart at the Clearing House Association's annual conference. The discussion is on payment systems but it is a panel discussion so maybe there will be questions on monetary policy. Building permits and housing starts will be released at 8:30 AM . Crude oil inventories will be announced at 10:30 AM. The USDCAD ignored a move lower yesterday for the most part. At 2 PM the FOMC meeting minutes will be released. The market will sift through the headlines for more definitive clues about a tightening.I will actually is synonymous
