Twenty years ago, privatizing everything was the theme
Everyone hates the government but they're learning to hate the private sector just as much.
A handful of developed countries have privatized consumer energy delivery in the past 20 years and the results have been painful. One of the more recent ones was Australia and it's proving to be a disaster for consumers.
You don't hear much about trying to nationalize industries but I suspect in the next decade or so, the pendulum will swing the other way unless companies can deliver savings to consumers. One of the big problems with the model is that corporations have monopolized utilities and are using the dominant positions to squeeze consumers.
