Daily thread to exchange ideas and to share your thoughts

Good day, everyone! Hope you're all doing well as we get things going here in European trading. The start of the session has been relatively mild to say the least. Most major currencies are still caught napping to begin the day. The kiwi's advance and loonie's slow start has to be taken into context as NZD/USD and USD/CAD still trades tepidly in a 20 pips and 29 pips range respectively.

  • Kiwi extends optimism following solid data from yesterday
  • Asian equities fail to fully capitalise on Wall Street's solid rebound overnight
  • US equity futures are starting to inch higher, E-minis up by 0.2% currently
  • Major currencies still trading tepidly, awaiting fresh direction
  • Focus stays on Brexit for the pound as EU Summit commences today

The lift higher in the last hour for US equity futures is a positive sign for the European cash equity market open later and that will help settle some of the early nerves seen in Asian trading, which failed to take advantage of the gains seen in US stocks overnight.
