Daily thread to exchange ideas and to share your thoughts

Good day, everyone! Hope you're all doing well as we get things going here on the session. Sorry for a bit of a later post on this one as we encountered some tech difficulties earlier so I had to play catch up on other postings.

Anyway, currencies are mostly still in a bit of a dull mood to start the day with narrow ranges still prevailing for the most part. The yen is the lead gainer though as it advanced following reports that the US and Mexico failed to reach a trade compromise overnight.

Talks will resume again today but if they continue to meet a setback, then Trump has said that tariffs will go into effect next Monday. That said, equities are not fazed though as US futures are trading higher; diverging from how the yen and Treasuries are performing today.

That is leaving a bit of a mixed mood among market participants as we try and figure out how to navigate through this whole ordeal. Eventually, one of these markets will be right and the one caught on the wrong side will see a rather sharp correction.

In my view, I believe there's a good chance that talks will fall through and we'll see tariffs get implemented next week. But let's see how things go.
