Trichet says central bank has room to lower its interest rate by 25 basis points

ECB’s President Jean Claude Trichet has said that there is room to cut rates by 0.25%, the Nikkei Business Daily reported. He said in the interview that he had signalled in last month’s policy meeting that he would not rule out a further moderate reduction in rates.
