Trump continues to tweet about the US-China trade situation
The tweet reads:
"I say openly to President Xi & all of my many friends in China that China will be hurt very badly if you don't make a deal because companies will be forced to leave China for other countries. Too expensive to buy in China. You had a great deal, almost completed, & you backed out!"
This pretty much confirms the earlier signals that both sides are done talking now and that the US won't back down on tariffs and their latest demands in the trade deal. Meanwhile, China themselves won't give in to those demands so we're pretty much at an impasse.
Hence, expect a period of coldness to ensue between the two countries over the next few months until someone is willing to come to the negotiating table again.
