Typhoon Chanthu has winds clocked around 170 kilometres per hour (more than 100 mph)

downgraded from a super typhoon to a strong typhoon on Sunday

Authorities are taking precautions, 
  • closing schools
  • suspending flights
  • and subway & rail services in some cities
The typhoon has already slammed Taiwan. Not a direct hit thankfully, but a drenching rain nevertheless.
