UK August visible trade balance -£11.2 billion vs -£10.9 billion expected

Latest data released by ONS - 10 October 2018

  • Prior -£10.0 billion; revised to -£10.4 billion
  • Non-EU trade balance -£4.2 billion
  • Prior -£2.8 billion; revised to -£3.1 billion
I would say the figures are in-line with expectations as you can't really be that accurate with regards to trade figures but the data here doesn't offer much in the grand scheme of things. The GDP data release also didn't do much for the pound and the release here isn't going to change that.

The focus for the pound remains that of Brexit, so let's move on.
