LONDON (MNI) – The manufacturing sector saw optimism fall sharply,
orders balance decrease and price pressure ease, according to the latest
Confederation of British Industry monthly and quarterly surveys in July.

Orders, price balance and optimism all fell to multi-year lows,
with the CBI surveys shows a marked deterioration.

The quarterly expected orders balance dropped to zero from 15 in
the previous quarter, hitting its lowest level since July 2009.

Average domestic prices also slumped to 4 from 36 in the previous
quarter, the lowest reading since October 2009.

The number of firms working below capacity also fell to 50%, the
lowest level since July 2007.
