According to the Council of Mortgage Lenders, mortgage approvals for house purchases in UK rose 16% m/m in April to stand 28% lower than a year earlier.
Mortgage loans for first-time buyers rose 11% on the month while those to home movers climbed 19%. That’s better news.
The figures suggest record low interest rates are breathing some life into the housing market after activity slumped to a record low last year.
