James Slack comments to reporters

  • Parliament vote on Brexit deal will be in January
  • Cabinet will discuss no-deal preparations tomorrow
  • Says May has received some assurances from European leaders last week
  • But there is more still to do and the process will continue
  • Will not be holding a second Brexit referendum
  • No plans to hold an indicative vote in parliament on Brexit options
  • Says May believes the deal negotiated is the only deal on offer

Pretty much the same old, same old. The key comment here is that there is some form of confirmation that the meaningful vote will take place next month and not this week - not that we expected it any time else but at least there is some certainty now. Aside from that, we'll still have to wait and see whether or not May can seek out the concessions she needs from European leaders before the third week of January.
