A UK MP, Nicky Morgan, chair of the Treasury Committee has written sternly to protest the providing of poll data to hedge funds

  • Polling companies sold private polls to hedge funds during the Brexit referendum
  • The funds used the info to place trades
  • Morgan has written to British Polling Council president Sir John Curtice, warning that the use of private polling data during election and referendum campaigns could pose a risk to the integrity of financial markets

I am not sure what the problem is here. Its not right to conduct research?

A private company cannot contract with another private company to provide data?

FFS. Traders use information. Some traders have better resources than others and use those resources to gain an advantage.

Grow up. Deal with it.

On the plus side, at least the words integrity and financial markets made it into the same sentence.
