FT report

Chancellor of the Exchequer Phillip Hammond is set for a 13 billion pound windfall in the budget due to better-than-expected public finances. The good news will help in pay for health spending without having to raise taxes.

The FT reports that the Office for Budget Responsibility will soon tell him the good news after it underestimated the strength of recent tax receipts. The news will also mean lower deficit forecasts for the next five years.

The good news could help to draw a line under GBP after Monday's 110 pip decline.
