Syria has today allowed the UN inspection team to visit the site,from tomorrow ( Monday), where a chemical weapons attack took place last week raising the stakes in this hugely dangerous conflict in the Middle East.
A lot of the evidence is reported to have already been destroyed ( unsurprisingly), but with tensions rising and with Russia still stoutly defending its only staunch Arab ally the escalation is threatening to spill into open conflict with outside intervention.
Or will it in fact force a peace deal on the basis that the worst case scenario is just too disasterous to contemplate?
