WASHINGTON (MNI) – House Speaker John Boehner said Tuesday that he
expects no new ideas to revive the American economy from President Obama
tonight when he addresses a Joint Session of Congress for the annual
State of the Union address.

Speaking with other House Republican leaders, Boehner said he
expects a “campaign speech” from the president during his 9 p.m. EST
national address.

“The president has been in total campaign mode since September,”
Boehner said.

Boehner repeated his frequent charge that Obama’s economic policies
have “made the economy worse.”

He said the November elections will be a “referendum” on Obama’s
economic agenda.

Boehner also took a swipe at the Democratic controlled Senate,
saying that 27 bills to boost jobs and economic growth have been
approved by the House and are languishing in the Senate.

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor said House Republicans will work
aggressively this year on job creation legislation.

He said Congress should have a “bold focus on growth in the private
sector” as it works on legislation.
