  • "I just called someone who is close to the negotiations in Washington and was told the two sides just finished Thursday's talks. They will have another negotiation Friday morning US time. In other words, negotiations will extend beyond the time when the US starts to raise tariffs"

Which is pretty much a recap of what we know already.

  • The two side met briefly Thursday evening.
  • Then concluded talks for dinner together.
  • And will reconvene Friday.

Higher US tariffs on Chinese goods are due to kick in just after midnight Washington time.

Unless we hear any differently, of course.

Reports abound that Trump and Xi are to speak on the phone this evening (US time). Stay tuned if anything comes from that.

And, that's where we are at.
