The first look at consumers in August
The University of Michigan's consumer sentiment report is coming up at the top of the hour. This is the first look at August data and the consensus estimate is for a slight dip to 72.0 from 72.5.
There have been a few big surprises in this report lately so be prepared for anything. Today's retail report was strong but that was July data and August is when government extra benefits were cut off.
