US DATA: Initial jobless claims -30k to 339k in Oct 6 wk, well
below expectations of 365k. There were no special factors, however the
seasonal adjustment expected a big increase in claims because it was the
first week of a new quarter and there tends to be more volatility
associated with weeks when the seasonal adj. expects a big move. The
4-week avg is now at 364,000. Unadj. claims +25,990 to 327,063. Cont.
claims -15,000 to 3.273 mln. Extended benefits +13,802 as the state of
retriggered their eligiblity for the program in the Sept. 9 week.
