US Empire manufacturing for March 3.7 vs 10.0 estimate

Empire Manufacturing Index lowest since November 2016
The US Empire State manufacturing index for March came in weaker than expected a 3.7 versus 10.0 estimate. That was  down from 8.8 last month. The indexes the lowest since November 2016.

  • employment 13.8 versus 4.1
  •  average workweek -3.4 versus 2.5
  •  new orders 3.0 versus 7.5
  •  shipments 7.7 versus 10.4
  •  prices paid 34.1 versus 27.1
  •  prices received 18.1 versus 22.9
  •  inventory 0 versus -1.4
  •  unfilled orders 2.2 versus -0.7
  •  delivery time 1.4 versus 5.0
The six-month a head index also fell to  29.6 versus 32.3 last month. However, note the 32.3 is a higher level.
