May US consumer confidence from The Conference Board

  • Prior was 128.7 (revised to 125.6)

  • Present situation 161.7 vs 159.6

  • Expectations 105.6 vs 108.1

  • 1-year inflation expectations 5.0% vs 4.7% prior

  • Jobs hard to get 15.5 vs 15.2 prior

  • Labor differential between jobs 'plentiful' and 'hard to get' rises to 26.6 from 22.9, which is a cycle high

The inflation expectations number is the big story here. That's a significant jump and it's something the Fed will note. It matches the highest since 2015.

That's probably largely about the rise in gasoline prices but higher inflation expectations filter through in other ways as well.
