US stocks can't get out of the red today. Modest declines.

The major US stock indices opened lower and remained in the red for the rest of the trading day:

• The S&P fell -8.47 points or -0.35% to 2444.04. The low reached 2441.42. The high extended to 2448.91
• The Nasdaq composite index fell -19.07 points or-0.30% to 6278.406. The low reached 6263.28. The high 6291.29
• The Dow composite index fell -87.80 points or -0.40% to 21812.09. The low reached 21808. The high extended to 21866.66

A down day for the market but certainly not a disaster.
