Mitt Romney gave a speech on foreign policy last night and policy hawks have noted that he didn’t repeat a past pledge to name China a currency manipulator in his first day in office, although he did say China manipulates its currency.
The official designation would open the door to sanctions.
Today, the US dollar rose the highest levels against the yuan since October.
The move higher this year is small (about 1%) but US manufacturers need all the help they can muster at the moment.
