Volkswagen CEO says "quite optimistic" about China's car market

Is China rebounding?

The big question for everyone right now is how the Chinese economy is doing. They have flooded the market with credit and that's what sparked new highs for markets for the year on Friday.

However lending is one thing, growth is another. They usually correlate and the market is betting it will but it's not certain. What's happening on the ground matters and Volkswagen CEO Herbert Diess to Bloomberg today that April sales have been good so far and that he's "quite optimistic" about H2.

For me, these kinds of comments are at least as illuminating as random (possibly manipulated) economic data points.
