Spain's Socialist party took an internal vote on abstaining in a confidence vote that would allow Mariano Rajoy's People's Party to form a government. The vote was 139-96 in favor of abstention.
No party was able to form a coalition after the election 10 months ago and Spain has been at an impasse since.
The resolution may be a small euro positive when markets re-open but the bigger market to watch is bonds. At the close on Friday, Spain's 10-year notes yielded 1.115%.
