Angela Merkel is awaiting the result of the ballot of potential coalition partner Social Democrats (SPD)

  • The vote is a postal ballot
  • Of SPD's 464,000 members
  • The question is if SPD should go ahead in a coalition government with Merkel's conservative CDU/CSU group

If the vote should fail:

Andrea Nahles, who senior SPD officials this week endorsed as the party's future leader, told Der Spiegel magazine in comments published on Saturday. "I don't have a Plan B."

SPD has been in coalition with Merkel in the past.

Reuters have more here ICYMI:

Agreement to form collation government should translate as a euro positive , if not , then no. I don't expect results on Tuesday, but we may get some indications.
