If anything, expect disappointment because it won't live up to the hype

Let's face it. We're not going to get anywhere from talks at the summit. There's a lot of heightened tensions, but in truth there isn't going to be anything concrete to come out of it.

Trump is heading into the meeting cutting an isolated figure as the rhetoric appears to be a "Trump vs The World" kind-of-theme. But he's going to be leaving early, and also already nailed down the blueprints for what will be a disappointing set of talks.

The focus for markets will be any talks on trade. So, let's see who are the parties involved.

Marcon and Merkel will be heading into the meeting focused on trade. The same goes for Trudeau as he seeks to work out the groundwork for a NAFTA agreement. Meanwhile, Abe has already cleared his grievances with Trump earlier yesterday as it seems his focus is on North Korea.

Basically, it's the EU (maybe UK) and Canada to be speaking up on the trade front against Trump. And honestly, I'm not expecting things to take a turn for the better. And neither am I holding my breath for any escalation in the trade rhetoric. The agenda doesn't even have any specific discussions for trade, so any talks on the matter will have to be on the sidelines.

And even if discussions do take place, as mentioned, I don't expect it to go anywhere and come Monday, we'd most probably just be where we are now - barring any Trump-bragging tweets that he convinced other leaders to bend to his will that is.
