WSJ: Fed likely to raise in December but could step back from rate path

Debate on wait and see

The WSJ is reporting that the Fed is considering whether to adapt a wait-and-see approach to rate policy.

The article says the Fed still sees the direction of short-term rates to be higher in 2019. However, they are increasingly unsure about how fast they need to go and how far they need to go. 

Different Fed officials have been chatting more about a wait and see approach including Fed's Kaplan who spoke to that idea this morning during an interview on CNBC.
