The FTs Mehreen Khan has tweeted that EU is willling to give Brits a unilateral exit from single customs territory while preserving the elements of the backstop. That tweet was followed with:
"Barnier generally gloomy. Said Cox's mini-backstop plans was a unilateral exit clause in disguise. Told ambassadors the arrival of the attorney general has led to no progress. Task Force 50 ready to counter the UK's blame game with their own PR offensive"
The price of the GBPUSD has moved lower on the tweets and now tests the 1.3000 level. The fall also came at the London fixing time. Not a good time for headlines.
