Better China news does not impress the market
There was more favorable China/US news in the form of lower tariffs on US auto's into China (from 40% to 15%) and stocks reacted positively at first. However, there was a very public spat between Pres. Trump, Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Nancy Pelosi on the border wall and potential government shutdown, and that helped to take the wind of the sails of the stocks.
