3rd record close in a row for the Nasdaq

The major stock indices are ending with solid gains. The indices were led by the Dow 30 stocks today. That index increased by 1.40%.

The summary shows:

  • The S&P index rose by 23.55 points or 0.86% to 2772.35. The index closed at the session high.
  • The Nasdaq rose by 51.37 pointe or 0.67% at 7689.42. The close was once again a record. The index has closed at record levels the last three trading days. The high for the day reached 7691.65.
  • The Dow rose 346 points or 1.4% at 25146. The index closed at the highs for the day.

For the Dow stocks Boeing led the charge, rising by 3.16%.

Financials also did well today with:

  • JP Morgan up 2.34%
  • Citigroup up 2.23%
  • Morgan Stanley up 2.21%
  • Goldman up 1.7%
  • Wells Fargo up 2%

Other winners included:

  • Tesla up 9.74%
  • Gilead up 2.73%
  • Caterpillar up 2.26%
  • Disney up 1.95%

Laggards today included:

  • First Solar (again - it is down from $75 a month ago to $55.53 today). It fell -4.65% today
  • Facebook fell -0.83%
  • Alphabet (google) fell -0.24%
  • Alibaba fell -0.12%
  • Amazon fell -0.04%
  • Micron was unchanged.
  • Nvidia was unchanged
