US stocks open with modest changes after US employment report

Small changes for the major indices

The major indices are opening with modest changes:

• The S&P is up 3 points or 0.9% at 2904
• The Nasdaq is unchanged at 7878
• The Dow is up 26 points at 26652

The US employment report had the unemployment rate move to the lowest level since 1969. Nonfarm payroll rose 134K which was lower than expectations but a revision of 87K to prior months softened that weakness (and was weather impacts). Earnings were as expected.

A snapshot of the forex markets shows the GBP moving higher. The NZD is the weakest. The USD has lot of little changes with a larger decline vs the GBP.
