Major indices up about 1.2%
The major indices are getting a boost at the opening on optimism of progress with US and China.
- The S&P is up 34 points or 1.29% at 2671.50
- The Nasdaq is up 93 points or 1.33% at 7114
- The Dow is up 353 points or 1.49%
In the US debt market, yields area mixed with a flatter yield curve.
In other markets:
- Spot gold is up $1.34 or 0.11% at $1245.70
- WTI crude oil is up $1.34 or 2.63% at $52.34
- Bitcoin is trading down about -$80 at $3322 on Coinbase. It remains below the 100 hour MA at $3419.83.
In the forex market, a snapshot of the strongest and weakest on the day is showing the NZD is the strongest, while the EUR is the weakest. The USD is mostly lower with a small gain vs the EUR, and little changed vs the JPY, CHF, and CAD. The AUD, NZD and GBP are gaining vs the greenback today.
The ranges today area trading below their 22 day averages as volatility is more up and down today so far. There is room to roam, if there is a push though (higher or lower for the pairs).
