"Green shoots" ... such a great term :-D Bernanke used it to describe the early signs of recovery in the US economy, prompting soooo much hate ... and yet he was right!

The Nikkei over the weekend: Green shoots visible in Japan

  • The global economic recovery is helping to boost production in Japan
  • Leading to the further tightening of the job market
  • The Bank of Japan used the word "expansion" to describe the economy for the first time in nine years in a recent report
  • Still, consumption is sluggish and prices tend to fall rather than go up, stunting inflationary momentum

It's the rundown of the data last Friday (CPI, IP, job market, household spending), and interesting to get the perspective from Japan's press
