BERLIN (MNI) – German GDP could grow this year by as much as 2%,
markedly above the +1.4% previously forecast by the government, German
Economics Minister Rainer Bruederle said in an interview published
Sunday.

“I believe that we could even reach a two before the decimal point,”
Bruederle told German weekly Focus.

The upswing will also impact positively on the labor market.

“The number of short-time workers could sink to below 100,000 by
the end of the year from above 600,000,” the minister said.
