FRANKFURT (MNI) – The euro is a stable currency and has served
Germany well, Bundesbank President Axel Weber said Friday.

“We are one of the countries that have profited greatly from the
euro. We have a stable currency in the euro,” Weber, who also is a
member of the European central Bank’s Governing Council, said.

“The euro is in Germany’s and in all our interest,” he added.

Speaking at the 180th anniversary of the Bavarian stock exchange,
Weber said he was confident that at the bicentennial celebration twenty
years from now the euro will be hailed as one of the most stable
currencies in the world.
