BERLIN (MNI) – The German Economics Ministry is not worried that
the sovereign debt crisis in the Eurozone could hurt domestic economic
growth, a spokeswoman said Friday.

“The federal government is regularly assessing the risks and
chances for the economic development, naturally also regarding the
development of problems concerning the euro,” ministry spokeswoman
Beatrix Brodkorb said at a regular press conference here. “Currently
there exist no worries.”

Government spokesman Steffen Seibert announced at the same press
conference that Chancellor Angela Merkel will meet IMF executive
managing director Dominique Strauss-Kahn on Sunday in Berlin. “It is
clear that Greece, Portugal, Ireland will also be a topic of the talks
with Mr. Strauss-Kahn,” Seibert said.

The three highly indebted countries depend on EU-IMF financial aid.

Seibert noted that Germany and many other governments are now
waiting for the release of the joint EU, ECB, IMF report on the state of
Greece.

“We expect the report at the beginning to mid-June,” said Finance
Ministry spokesman Martin Kotthaus.
