Guido Westerwelle has had discussions with his Greek counterpart, hoping to engineer a deal between Greece and its private bondholders. He said that Germany stands by Greece and is ready to help, but if Greece cannot reach a deal with it’s international lenders, it will not receive the extrea aid it needs to avoid default in March (Reuters newswires).
EUR/USD is steady at 1.2635.
