UK DATA: GfK/NOP: UK May Consumer Confidence -29 vs -31 Apr
————————————————————————
Consumer confidence rose unexpectedly in May but failed to break
out of the tight range it has held for 11 months, according to the
latest survey from GfK/NOP. The GfK/NOP Consumer Confidence Index rose
to -29 from April’s -31, narrowing the gap with the five-year average of
-23. The index has held in a -29 to -33 range since July last year,
after a surge to -21 in May last year on the back of fine weather and
extended national holidays.
